Area ATV Crashes result in death and serious injury

BOY RIVER MN – ATV CRASH RESULTS IN FATALITY
Cass County Sheriff Tom Burch reports that on Sunday, June 3, 2018 at 5:09 PM, the Cass County Sheriff’s Office received a report of an ATV crash on private property in rural Boy River MN. Deputies and responders arrived and learned that a 9- year-old male victim of Boy River MN, had been operating a 2015 Yamaha 700 ATV with a 15-yearold male passenger when they lost control in a water hole flipping the ATV on top of them. The ATV was removed off the driver and lifesaving efforts were unsuccessful at the scene. The passenger was treated at the scene for minor injuries. Assisting at the scene was North Memorial Ambulance and Longville Fire Department. An autopsy is scheduled with the Ramsey County Medical Examiner’s Office and the investigation continues.
REMER MN – ATV VS VEHICLE CRASH RESULTS IN SERIOUS INJURY
Cass County Sheriff Tom Burch reports that on Saturday, June 2, 2018 at 2:06 PM, the Cass County Sheriff’s Office received a report of a motor vehicle vs ATV crash on County Rd 52 in Slater Township, rural Remer MN. Deputies and responders arrived on scene and learned that a group of Class 2 ATVs were travelling south on County Rd 52 when a 2004 Chevrolet Silverado travelling north collided with a 2015 Polaris Ranger. The Polaris Ranger was being operated by a 14-year-old male from Farmington, MN with a 13-year-old male passenger, also from Farmington MN. The driver of ATV was treated on scene and flown to a Duluth hospital for serious, but non-life-threatening injuries. The ATV passenger was treated and released. The driver of the pickup, Mac Doms, age 22, of Boy River MN, was arrested and booked in the Cass County Detention Center on pending DUI and other charges. The investigation continues. Assisting at the scene was the MN DNR Conservation, Remer Fire Department, Remer Ambulance Service and North Memorial Air Care. The investigation continues.
