10th Anniversary MC Ride for Homeless and Wounded Warriors
Web posted August 19, 2014
2014 is an important year for many different reasons, not the least of which is, this is the year of the 10th Anniversary MC Ride for Homeless and Wounded Warriors. It is significant to many of the veterans, as what started out as a tight-knit group of 25 veteran motorcyclists raising money to help feed and clothe homeless veterans, has now grown to gain state-wide recognition as one of the premier charity rides in the State of Minnesota, having raised $8,000 last year and over $65,000 over the past 10 years.
Half of last years receipts went to the St. Cloud VA's Homeless Outreach Program and the other half went to a local wounded warrior to assist her in getting on her feet. We took great pride in helping both causes.
This year's 110 mile ride, sponsored by the Vietnam Vets Motorcycle Club, Chapter D, MN, will take place August 23, and the club is expecting well over 150 motorcyclists.
Stops along the ride will include the Garrison VFW first then the Bridge Tavern, the Jenkins VFW, and the Bourbon Room in Crosslake. The Bourbon Room be holding a silent auction with all proceeds going to the homeless and wounded warriors.
The final stop will be the Crosslake American Legion where a dinner and silent auction will take place, awarding of the run proceeds to homeless and wounded veterans.
The Crosslake American Legion is still accepting silent auction items for this event. Please contact Steve Eisenreich, 320 267-0376.
Everyone is welcome to join us.
