Breezy Point Man Arrested on Four Counts

Clinton Ross Berg, age 36, of Breezy Point was arrested on a felony charge of Possessing a Firearm-Conviction of a Violent Crime, which carries a maximum penalty of 15 years, a $30,000 fine, or both.

Berg was arrested on Dec. 5 at his residence during a probation compliance check according to the complaint filed by Breezy Point police.

Breezy Point police officer Josef Garcia was accompanied probation agent Candice Piekarski to check on Berg and discovered eight weapons, drug paraphernalia and a small amount of marijuana. Berg has a prior felony conviction for a controlled substance crime and is prohibited from possessing firearms.

The other counts include Possession of a Controlled Substance Crime in the Fifth Degree, Possession of Drug Paraphernalia and Possession or Sale of Small Amounts of Marijuana.

According to the complaint, the defendant invited Officer Garcia and Piekarski into the residence.

The complaint stated that Garcia searched the defendant's bedroom and located a glass pipe containing a crystalline residue; a piece of tinfoil and a straw containing a white powdery residue coating inside, and a small plastic container which held a metal pipe and a small amount of green organic material; and an eight inch piece of glass tubing inside of a desk drawer.

Piekarski located firearm ammunition in the defendant's coat pocket and his lunch box and the defendant then admitted to the presence of a firearm inside the residence.

Officer Garcia located eight long guns and a revolver underneath the beds. The residues from the glass pipe and the straw tested positive for methamphetamine.

The other paraphernalia was tested and was found to have the presence of THC.

The defendant was placed under arrest and transported to the Crow Wing County Jail.
