| Vote Yes MN Rallied Fishermen In Support of the Clean Water, Land and Legacy AmendmentFishermen want to protect the lakes, rivers and streams they fish for future generations of sportsmen Vote Yes Minnesota, the coalition supporting the Clean Water, Land and Legacy Amendment, rallied fishermen in Breezy Point, MN this past weekend to raise awareness about the need for clean water in our lakes, rivers and streams. According to the Minnesota Pollution Control Agency, 40 percent of our waters that have been tested are polluted. Supporters will stress the importance of protecting Minnesota’s 92,000 miles of running water, and 14,000 lakes before it is too late. “Nothing is more important than having clean water for drinking and recreation,” said Ken Martin, Vote Yes Minnesota Campaign Manager. “We need healthy water sources for swimming and fishing, and for wildlife habitat. It is important to protect these valuable resources before they are lost forever.” The Clean Water, Land and Legacy Amendment will be on the ballot this November 4th. The amendment asks voters to change the constitution to protect our drinking water sources, to protect, enhance and restore our wetlands, prairies, forests, and fish, game and wildlife habitat. The amendment would also support arts access and the parks and trails system. The campaign used bobbers that are replicas of the Pequot Lakes water tower, with the Vote Yes logo on them. In addition to giving away free bobbers, the group offered fishing bait and tackle to the anglers. “We know how important fishing and sporting activities are to this region,” Martin said. “It is up to us to make sure these great traditions are passed on to our kids and grandchildren. We can do that by voting Yes on November 4th. It’s an investment worth making.” After an early morning launch of their fishing group, Vote Yes MN sponsored a walleye fry at Breezy Point Resort for supporters, volunteers and unlucky fisherman. The public was invited to join the group to enjoy Minnesota’s favorite fish.
