Life Saving Techniques Demonstration at the Breezy Point Area Women’s Club

The Breezy Point Area Women's Club met at Billy's on October 2nd. A new slate of officers for 2014 was presented to the membership for approval. They are as follows: President, Mary Lou Most; vice president, Sandy Sumner and Jane Gustafson, co-secretaries, Lynne Johnson and treasurer, Lorinda Jeffers.
A donation of $200 was given to Teri Spielman for the First Responders. Teri, who is an instructor of CPR for the American Heart Association is herself a First Responder, gave a demonstration on "Annie" for "hands only" CPR. She, also, went through the warning signs of a heart attack focusing on women. There was a lively discussion on the Hemilich maneuver, a method of helping a person who is chocking. Teri emphasized the importance of calling 911 FIRST while coming to the aid of a victim of an apparent heart attack as every minute is crucial.
