The National Loon Center (NLC) are proud to offer this opportunity completely free to the public! There were over 4,200 visitors to The Nest in Crosslake Town Square (middle photo) The NLC expresses their thanks to the wonderful volunteers who provide visitors with fun education about loons and the future of the National Loon Center. This year, they were excited to share with visitors the new enhanced site plan. The new site, which spans nearly ten acres between CSAH 3 and Swann Drive between Reed’s Market and the CSAH 66 business strip, was strongly preferred to maintain convenient access to the Cross Lake Recreation Area along with the docks, boardwalks, exhibits and StewardShip pontoon that are already available to campground guests and the greater public. There was over 3,000 people reached through outreach and presentations on loon and freshwater conservation, that included two days at the MN State Fair for Wonderful Water Day (bottom photo) and the Eco Experience. This fall, NLC attended the Three Rivers WaterFest, speaking to over 125 4th graders. During this giving season, the National Loon Center invites supporters of all ages to Adopt a Loon. By symbolically adopting a loon for yourself or a loved one, you will help protect the Common Loon and the lakes they inhabit. Your donation will go towards loon and freshwater conservation by supporting habitat protection, research, and education.
