Aaron Hautala, president and creative director at RedHouseMedia, a Brainerd-based advertising agency, was recently recognized as one of Central Lakes College’s Outstanding Alumni.
In celebration of the college’s 75th anniversary, CLC honored 75 alumni who have made significant professional achievements and displayed exemplary leadership in their community.
Hautala, a 1996 graduate of CLC’s advertising and graphic design program, started RedHouseMedia in 2004 after eight years at Evergreen Press where he served as art director for Lake Country Journal Magazine, Initiative Quarterly and other regional publications.
Since then, Hautala has been recognized for his leadership, design and photography skills. Accolades include the Minnesota Book of the Year and Midwest Book of the Year awards for “The Opposite of Cold: The Northwoods Finnish Sauna Tradition,” which features his photography of saunas around the world. He also received Prairie Business Magazine’s 40 Under 40 Award, recognizing the top 40 business leaders under 40 years of age in the Minnesota, North Dakota and South Dakota region.
Through the years, Huatala has spent hundreds of hours volunteering for the Cuyuna Lakes Mountain Bike Trails, with a goal of positioning the area as an international cycling destination. "Education is everything for a young professional’s career and so are your mentors,” said Hautala. “Mentors like Chip Borkenhagen, Tom Reek, Pete Smith, and John Schaubach all played an instrumental role in allowing me to see a much bigger picture of life, business, and community that I would never have seen without their investments."
RedHouseMedia provides a full continuum of marketing services online, in print and via video to businesses throughout the Midwest.
