The funding provided for attendance at a number of workshops, travel and lodging. Student Senate budget paid for the other students attending. Attending the conference were Brainerd campus Student Senate President Nic Dehning of Deerwood, a sophomore majoring in psychology; Senate Vice President Adam Bybee of Brainerd, a freshman law enforcement student; Senate Secretary Mindy Finlay of Brainerd, a freshman; and international student leader Raoni Marinho from Brazil. Workshops attended included “community engagement,” “styles of leadership,” “Minnesota State College Student Association leadership,” “how to be a more effective communicator,” “running an effective meeting,” “media relations,” “being a servant leader,” “attitude is everything,” and “personal money management.” Dehning reported that each participant had an opportunity to attend up to 10 sessions during the three-day conference. Rosenmeier Center Executive Director Larry M. Kellerman said that funding student leadership opportunities reflects the mission statement of the organization, which is “to education and encourage participation of citizens in effective government and the political process.” | |||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
