Boating Accident on Whitefish Lake

The Crow Wing County Sheriff’s Office rssponded to a call on Whitefish Lake regarding a female who was injured after falling from the boat she was riding in.

On Saturday, August 2nd, Maria Nerness, age 21 of Greenwood, MN, fell off the front of an inboard wakeboard boat driven by 24-year-old Thomas Ryan, of Denver, CO. Nerness suffered severe lacerations to her leg after the boat ran her over.

North Aircare responded to the scene and transported Nerness to North Memorial Medical Center. Ryan was arrested on suspicion of boating under the influence.The incident is still under investigation.

The Sheriff’s Office was assisted by the Crosslake and Pequot Lakes Police Departments, North Ambulance, and the Ideal Fire Department.
