12th Annual Christmas for Kids Event

Web posted November 27, 2018
Christmas for Kids Event is a local community, nonprofit organization that brings Christmas gifts to over 145 less fortunate children and their families in our community. Our goal is to reach all of the families in need and make their Christmas a happy one. We shop for each child individually from the information given in the applications we receive.

Our 12th Annual Christmas for Kids Benefit is on Saturday, December 1st at Maucieri’s in Crosslake. There will be a silent auction starting 4pm and going until 6pm. The Live Auction starts at 6pm with Paul Nelson as the auctioneer. When you make a donation of a new unwrapped gift or cash/check to Christmas for kids, you will receive 1 FREE drink from Maucieri’s.

On December 5th at 7pm, there will be another Christmas for kids Fundraiser at Riverside Inn in Crosslake. A $10 minimum donation or an unwrapped toy will be collected as your donation. Lots of free food at the buffet, door prizes, drink specials and tons of fun.

Christmas for kids has many toy drops sites for anyone to donate a new unwrapped toy. You can drop off toys at Maucieri’s in Crosslake, Schaefer’s Food in Nisswa, Nisswa Chamber of Commerce and for the families in Pine River and Backus; Pine River-Backus Family Center. Schaefer’s also has a Christmas tree with name ornaments; take a name ornament, buy a gift and bring the unwrapped gift back to Schaefer’s for donation.

If you are interested in helping financially or have any questions about the event, you may contact Dawn Maucieri (218) 692-4800.

When all the shopping is done we have a big wrapping party. This year it will be December 18th at the Community Center in Nisswa at 4pm. We open this up to anyone who would like to help wrap gifts. There will be pizza, hot chocolate and soda donated by local businesses. All you need to do is show up with your scissors. For more information contact Katie Wagner (218) 851-2211.

Our very generous local Law Enforcement, volunteer on Christmas Eve morning and Dress up as Santa or an Elf and deliver all the gifts to the families. Christmas for Kids would not be possible without the donations, volunteers and support from all the businesses and people of our communities. We thank you very much, in advance.
