Crosslake Cub Scouts Visit Model Train Club

Northern Trackers Model Railroad Club of Crosslake (NTRRC) hosted the local Tiger Den part of Pack 102 last Monday night.

Twelve first grade boys, along with a few siblings and parents made for a total of 27 visitors.

They enjoyed a pizza dinner and short meeting, then the boys spent nearly two hours viewing and running trains and learning how to make a pine tree.

The boys satisfied a Scout requirement by learning about the history of trains in the Brainerd Lakes area. NTRRC signature HO layout replicates the logging and mining industry in the Brainerd Lakes area from 1905 to 1915. The kids also enjoyed playing a game that asked them to locate different items of interest on the HO train layout. The troop also operated several accessories on the large O scale Lionel layout.

Den Mother Rene Millner said her Cub Scout Troop had a great time and was anxious to visit again soon. Club President Bill Bury said the railroad club welcomes any tour groups to visit and learn more about model railroading and especially railroad history in the Brainerd Lakes area.
