Camp Knutson’s 31st annual Quilt Auction
Web posted August 22, 2017
The 31st Annual Camp Knutson Quilt Auction was held on Saturday, August 12th. It was a beautiful day and record setting numbers at Camp Knutson. 250 quilts were auctioned off to the 170 bidders, raising a record of $65,700.
Thank you to all of our quilt donors, the Paul Bunyan Auxiliary Volunteers, the Quilt Auction committee, and our generous buyers and supporters.
Our special guests at this year’s Quilt Auction featured one of our campers, Will and his mother Betsy. Will has attended our camp for kids with heart disease, these last two years. Betsy shared about the value of being able to send her child with a special medical need to a safe, fun-filled camp environment where he is able to meet others with similar zipper scars and pace makers. Because of Camp Knutson, Will has the opportunity to take part in the summer camping experience just like his sister and his friends from school. At the young age of 8, Will donates part of his monthly allowance to Camp Knutson. Will kicked off our Fund a Need portion of the auction by graciously donating his entire summer allowance of $20. Our fund a need portion raised over $11,000 to assist with our Horseback riding program, programming for our upcoming camp - serving youth who are experiencing homelessness, and for repairs necessary to our Kitchen cooler.
Mark your calendars for next year’s Quilt Auction as it will take place on Saturday, August 11, 2018. If you are interested in learning more or helping out with the Quilt Auction in the future, please email Davidrfischer@crosslake.net.
