Camp Knutson’s 33rd Annual Quilt Auction

Web posted August 20, 2019
The 33rd Annual Camp Knutson Quilt Auction was held on Saturday, August 10th. It was a beautiful day and a record number of quilts were auctioned off. 380 gorgeous quilts, many of which were from local quilters, were auctioned off to a record number of 230 bidders with a total of 400+ guests throughout the day. New this year, all silent auction items had a “buy it now” option so people were able to walk away with a quilt at any time throughout the morning. The 2019 quilt auction raised a total $63,500 to help with camp’s operation costs and camper scholarships.

Camp K thanks all the quilt donors, the Paul Bunyan Auxiliary Volunteers, the Quilt Auction committee leaders, and our generous buyers and supporters. The Paul Bunyan Auxiliary began in 1987 and one of their primary focuses over the years has been developing and putting together the Quilt Auction for Camp Knutson.

This year’s Fund a Need part of the Quilt Auction was dedicated to raising camperships for camp’s program for youth experiencing homelessness. During the last week of August, Camp Knutson hosts about 30 youth from the Twin Cities region, Duluth and Brainerd. Many of these campers have never been to a lake, seen the stars without light pollution, or been able to participate in activities camp offers them. $11,000 was raised in our mission moment to allow youth experiencing homelessness to come to camp with no financial barriers. Camp Knutson provides campers with Down syndrome, Autism, Skin Conditions, Heart Diseases, and Burn Survivors a one of a kind summer residential experience they can’t experience anywhere else.

Mark your calendars for next year’s Quilt Auction as it will take place on Saturday, August 9th, 2020. If you are interested in learning more or helping out with the Quilt Auction in the future, please email Jared.Griffin@lssmn.org.
