Crosslake-Fifty Lakes/Pequot Lakes Legion Baseball

Aitkin 5, Crosslake 1
Last Tuesday night the Crosslake-Fifty Lakes/Pequot Lakes Legion baseball team traveled to Aitkin a game against their sub-district rival. Earlier this season, CL-FL/PL beat Aitkin 4-3 at home. This game was a different story as Aitkin came away with a 5-1 win over the locals. Aitkin got on the board first with one run in the first inning.

After Aitkin gain a 1-0 advantage in the opening inning, CL-FL/PL came back in the second to tie the game on a walk to Ryan Pahl and singles by Josh Rudbeck and Devin Brooks.

In the bottom of the second, Aitkin broke the game, scoring four runs off three walks, a hit batsman, and one hit. CL-FL/PL hit the ball well picking up eight hits, but couldn’t get past one on the scoreboard.

Jake Serfling, Tyler Wittwer, Pahl, Rudbeck, and Brooks all picked up singles. Tyler Wicker had a double and scored the only Crosslake run. Ben Kepner went 2 for 4.

Kepner took the loss but only gave up three Aitkin hits. Pahl had a good night in relief throwing 2 innings and striking out 4. The winning pitcher for Aitkin was Mac Jones.

Crosslake 4, McGregor 2
Tyler Wicker pitched a complete game and drove in a run with a double as the Crosslake/Fifty Lakes–Pequot Lakes Legion baseball team defeated McGregor 4-2 last Thursday night in Pequot Lakes.

CL-FL/PL took a 2-0 lead in the first on a triple by Jake Serfling, Brandon Hilts was hit by a pitch, and singles by Ben Kepner and Tyler Wittwer.

McGregor came back with a run in the third, but CL/FL-PL got it back n the bottom of the third on a hit by Ryan Pahl and a double by Wicker.

In the fifth, the local nine made the score 4-1 on a walk to Hilts who advanced to third on two wild pitches. He then scored on a sacrifice fly by Wittwer.

McGregor added their final run in the sixth. Wicker gave up 4 hits, striking out 6, and walking four in seven innings. Mike Tast took the loss for McGregor.

CL-FL/PL’s record now stands at 7-3 on the year. Next up is a double header against Royalton on Tuesday at Crosslake. Game one begins at 5 pm. On Thursday the locals travel to Ironton for a game at 6 pm.
