The Crosslake Ideal Lion’s Club awarded another recipient the Melvin Jones’s Award, Maucieri’s Bistro! Maucieri’s has a long history In Crosslake and with the Lion’s Club.
Anthony Maucieri Sr, was in the military at Fort Ripley and fell in love with Northern Minnesota. Originally from Chicago, he moved his family to Crosslake and purchased Echo Ridge in 1974. He sold it in 2000 and five years later purchased Maucieri’s. Anthony Sr, and daughter Dawn worked closely together to build the reputation of Maucieri’s incorporating recipes passed down from his family.
Prior to moving to Crosslake, Anthony Sr. was an active Lion’s member in Chicago. Upon moving to Crosslake he became an active member in the Crosslake Ideal Lion’s Group, as a charter member. The entire family has devoted their lives to their family legacy. Dawn not only works diligently at the restaurant, but also donates her time to the Chamber of Commerce, Winter Fest, Christmas for kids, Crosslake Ideal Lion’s Club and Crosslake Days. Her brother Tony, also works at Maucieri’s in an administrative role. His three sons, Jordon, Josh, and Easton have also worked in this family business. When asked what made Maucieri’s such a popular restaurant in the area she attributed it to the family focus. “Dad had a big personality and everyone loved him, that was the legacy.”
The Melvin Jones Award is the most prestigious award given within the Lion’s organization based on sponsors who contribute to the efforts of local Lion’s Clubs. Maucieri’s Bistro not only hosts monthly meetings but financially contributes to the many causes sponsored by Crosslake Ideal Lions Club.
