Kicking off the very first concert in the Crosslake Outdoor Music Series, Chris Olson will be “The King” in his Memories of Elvis performance on Saturday, June 21 in Crosslake Town Square.
Olson’s performance is the first of many concerts each Saturday through Aug. 30. Other performances include Decade 7, Jacob Martin Band, Dred I Dread and more.
According to his website, Olson has performed in Las Vegas, California, Montana, Wisconsin, Georgia and more, including performances in front of more than 60,000 people at a time.
With several custom-made jumpsuits to match Elvis’ style, Olson has the sneer, the hair, the eyes, the stride and the voice to deliver a first-class Elvis tribute. Olson works together with his wife, Mary Ann, who provides sound, stage lighting, hair and more to make the presentation special.
Olson knows more than 200 of Elvis’ 700 songs and never lipsyncs. He’s been performing Elvis tributes for more than 10 years.
On his website, Olson states, “I am not trying to walk in the shoes of Elvis Presley. I am merely trying to keep the memories fresh and alive. There will be only one king of rock ‘n roll. Elvis Presley wears that crown.”
Crosslake’s Outdoor Music Series is every Saturday evening throughout the summer in the Town Square park. Town Square businesses, as well as other area businesses, sponsor the shows to make the series possible.
The performance schedule includes: Chris Olson’s Memories of Elvis on June 21, Daybreak on June 28, Shane Martin on July 5, Boss Grant: Johnny Cash Revue on July 12, Dred I Dread on July 19, Decade 7 on July 26, Patty and the Buttons on Aug. 2, Boss Grant: Johnny Cash Revue on Aug. 9, Jacob Martin Band on Aug. 16, Daybreak on Aug. 23 and Decade 7 on Aug. 30.
