Chilly temps don’t dampen high spirits of Crosslake’s St. Patrick’s Day Parade

Web posted March 19, 2013
Despite temperatures in the high teens and a nearly three-inch snowfall the pervious night, the 39th annual Crosslake St. Patrick’s Day Parade and Celebration was again successful. Thousands of residents and visitors lined the parade route to watch the annual festivities.

Maucieri’s Italian Restaurant of Crosslake took the top prize in the business float division with fun float with Tony Maucieri, Sr. centerstage.

A three-person panel comprised of Debby Floerchinger of Crosslake Communications, long-time St. Patrick’s Day committee chair and realtor Candy Hart, and Joe Kraemer of Lakes Area Gallery and Frame Shoppe voted and chose the parade winners.

Whitefish Properties took second place with their high-energy Gangnam Style dance revue, and Celtic Cottage of Pequot Lakes with their traditional thatch-roofed cottage float took third.

In the non-profit division, the Paul Bunyan Scenic Byway Association took first place with the Pots and Pans Band. They were followed by H.A.R.T. Animal Hospital of Baxter.

The Cuyuna Range Girls Scouts took first place in the Youth division and an Honorable Mention was given to the Breezy Point Figure Skating Club.

Brainerd Lakes Chamber Crosslake Director Cindy Myogeto said after the parade, “Despite the snow and chilly temps, Crosslake came out in it's usual fashion! 89 parade entries, many of which were fantastic floats and thousands lined the streets! The St. Pats committee works many hours planning this event and it's fun to see it all come together.”

The annual post-parade raffle party, hosted by Platimum sponsor Essentia Health of Brainerd, was held Sunday, March 17 at Manhattan Beach Lodge. Winners will be announced in next week’s paper.

Special thanks to the following St. Patrick's Day Committee Members Bruce Gateley, Crystal Glaser, Candy Hart, Joe Kraemer, C. Bob Heales, Kim Larson, Dawn Maucieri, Colleen Murray, Paul Nelson, Mike O'Connell - chair, Laura Stromberg, and Katie Wallace.
