7th Annual Wild Game Feed a Huge Success

Over 200 people gathered in the new social hall of Immaculate Heart Catholic Church for their 7th annual Wild Game Feed, held Saturday, December 5th.

The evening began with appetizers of cheese and crackers and several varieties of wines featured by the Robert Hall winery located in CA; a huge thank you to Kelly and Mary Conger for providing these donations. During social hour, guests congregated among the silent auction tables bidding on their favorite items.

The Parish Life Committee, along with chairperson Donna Keiffer, were instrumental in gathering donations from local vendors for the silent and live auction to raise funds for a new nativity scene for the church.

This was the third year of the silent auction, notable gifts included a hand-made chime clock by Marc Barthel; Ace Hardware of Crosslake filled a donated wagon full of toys; a mountain bike by the Nemes; and a large Viking rug by Buddy Knutson. Many parishioners along with Crosslake vendors donated gifts,  certificates, pictures, and even home made pies. Following dinner, auctioneer Kelly Conger kept the crowd entertained and the bidding lively.

Head Chef, Hark Scheinost, prepared a feast of Pheasant in cherry and wine sauces, Venison, Caribou, Elk, German Potato salad, wild rice, green beans, homemade rolls and dessert bars. All the food was donated and prepared by parishioners. Several church committees volunteered to make the dinner successful. Ladies of the CCW prepared lovely centerpieces, which will also be used for social hour following Sunday mass. The men who donate firewood to the church will also be constructing a shelter to house the new nativity set.

Over $6000 was raised and well exceeded everyone’s expectations. Three generous individuals sponsored figurines for the nativity scene.
