Join in on the Family Fun during Crosslake WinterFest: February 2-4Web posted January 24, 2012 Soup’s on in Crosslake and that must mean it’s time for the ninth annual Crosslake WinterFest, February 2-4, 2012, with events planned throughout the community. Annual staples will include SoupFest tasting, at 14 participating Crosslake businesses, as well as the Search for the Lost WinterFest Medallion. This year’s major sponsor is Pine Peaks Retreat and Event Center, 39957 Swanburg Road, Crosslake. New events this year include dogsled rides, vendor extravaganza, as well as a live comedy show featuring Wild Bill Bauer, as well as much more. “With outdoor recreational options limited this year due to the weather, many people are getting cabin fever,” said Cindy Myogeto, Crosslake Area Coordinator for the Brainerd Lakes Chamber. “That’s why WinterFest, with a packed schedule of family friendly events, provides a great opportunity to get out and enjoy a fun-filled weekend.” Here’s a look at the 2012 lineup: Thursday, February 2 • 9 a.m.: First clue released online and at participating businesses in the Search for the Lost WinterFest Medallion Hunt. When found, turn in the medallion to Lake Country Crafts and Cones, 36084 County Road 66, Crosslake, and redeem a prize basket valued at more than $1,000. Additional clues will be released daily. Friday, February 3 • 11 a.m.-3 p.m.: Vendor Extravaganza, Pine Peaks Retreat and Event Center. • 4-6 p.m.: Cabin Fever Family Fun Night at Crosslake Community School, 36974 County Road 66, Crosslake • 6-8 p.m.: Celebrate WinterFest event at Crosslake Community Center, 14126 Daggett Pine Road, Crosslake, featuring Kelli’s Kandids Photos, horsedrawn wagon rides, dogsled rides by Wolf Moon Kennel and Dog Sled Rides, DJ “JP” of PremierPartyEntertainment.com, outdoor movies, snow mountain, bonfire with s’mores, fire trucks on display, pond skating, warming house open with coffee and hot cocoa. • 8 p.m.: Live comedy featuring Wild Bill Bauer at Pine Peaks Retreat and Event Center with Maucieri’s Italian buffet beginning at 6:30 p.m. • 10 p.m.-close: DJ “JP” at Moonlite Bay Family Restaurant and Bar, 37627 County Road 66, Crosslake. Saturday, February 4 • 7:30 a.m.-noon: Crosslake Firefighters Pancake Breakfast, at Crosslake Lutheran Church, 35960 County Road 66, Crosslake. • 9 a.m.-3 p.m.: Snowman Building Contest, weather permitting, U.S. Army Corps of Engineers Park, 35507 County Road 66, Crosslake. • 10 a.m.-3 p.m.: Vendor Extravaganza, Pine Peaks Retreat and Event Center. • 10 a.m.-4 p.m. Antique and Vintage Snowmobile Rally, Maucieri’s Italian Bistro, 34650 County Road 3, Crosslake. • 11 a.m.-Dusk: Helicopter Rides, Moonlite Bay. • Noon: Bocce Ball Tournament, Riverside Inn, 35322 County Road 3, Crosslake. • Noon until gone!: SoupFest Tasting at participating businesses. • Noon-2 p.m.: Ice Car Races, Cedar Chest, 33350 County Road 3, Crosslake. • 1 p.m.: Italian Olympics, Maucieri’s Italian Bistro. • 1-4 p.m.: Snowmobile Radar Runs, Moonlite Bay. • 2-4 p.m.: Dogsled Rides, Pine Peaks Event and Retreat Center. • 7 p.m.-close: “DJ II,” The Wharf, 12986 County Road 16, Crosslake. • 8 p.m.: Live comedy featuring Wild Bill Bauer at Pine Peaks Retreat and Event Center with Maucieri’s Italian buffet beginning at 6:30 p.m. • 10 p.m.-close: DJ “JP” at Moonlite Bay Family Restaurant and Bar. SoupFest mugs can be used to buy discounted tap beer Friday and Saturday at participating establishments in Crosslake.
