Airplane Crash in Agate Lake

Crow Wing County Sheriff Todd Dahl reported that on August, 1st at approx. 7:30 pm, an Ultra- Light aircraft crashed into Agate Lake by Deerwood, MN. The pilot, Richard Northburg, from Deerwood, and passenger, Justin Odle, from Aitkin, were pulled from the water by citizen who witnessed the crashed.

Northburg reported to deputies that they were flying over Agate Lake when the engine on the Ultra-Light aircraft stalled causing them to land in the lake.

Neither Northburg or Odle suffered any injuries from the crash. Inspectors from the FAA were contacted and are investigating the crash.

The Crow Wing County Sheriff’s Office was assisted by the Deerwood Police Dept.
