Limited Motorized Recreation Use during Firearms Season

Web posted November 12, 2019
The Crow Wing County Land Services Department wants to remind off highway vehicle users that recreational riding on forest trails passing through Crow Wing County administered public lands is prohibited during the 2019 State firearms deer hunting season.

The restriction does not preclude deer hunters, with a valid hunting license, to operate an off-highway vehicle (OHV) before legal shooting time, from 11:00 am until 2:00 pm, or after legal shooting hours.

The restriction is in effect November 9th -24th inclusive of the 100 series zone, and November 9th -17th inclusive of the 200 and 300 series zones. Please refer to the Minnesota DNR Hunting and Trapping Regulations for more detailed information on season dates and zones. All recreational users of county forest lands are reminded to wear blaze orange while they are out in the field during hunting season.

Crow Wing County Land Services manages 105,000 acres of forest land for timber production and diverse recreational opportunities for multiple users. The sale of timber at public auctions funds the county’s management of these lands, while providing revenues to local communities. County forest lands are managed to strict environmental standards established by both the Sustainable Forestry Initiative and the Minnesota Forest Resources Council.

The Crow Wing Land Services Department is committed to providing excellent customer service and responding to all inquiries in an efficient, courteous and professional manner. Property owners may contact the office at landservices@crowwing.us or 218-824-1010 with any questions they may have about county administered public lands.
