Web posted November 15, 2022
An Open House event will be held to provide information to residents regarding the Crosslake Pedestrian and Intersection Improvements project at Crosslake City Hall on Tuesday, November 29th.
There will be two opportunities to listen to short presentations, at 5:30 and 6:30 p.m. The remaining meeting time will allow attendees to review informational materials and speak with project staff.
Materials, feedback and email update opportunities are currently available on the project website www.crosslakeimprovements.com
Crow Wing County, in partnership with the City of Crosslake, is planning to make improvements to County Road 3 and County Road 66. This corridor has been a topic of conversation for some time, and with the National Loon Center (NLC) set to open in 2024, more pressure will be on the corridor to handle access, parking, and pedestrian needs. This project will align all past, present, and future efforts to establish a cohesive, community-supported vision for the corridor.
The proposed improvements include:
• Safety improvements to the intersection of County Road 3 & 66
• Pedestrian improvements along County Road 3 to Pioneer Drive and along County Road 66 to Bald Eagle Trail
• Stormwater treatment improvements to protect water quality
In order to accommodate the influx of tourism and traffic that the National Loon Center will generate, this project will be constructed in 2024, prior to its opening. With this hard deadline for construction, and the likely potential for right-of-way impacts, the following accelerated schedule will be adhered to.
• Study/Data Collection: September - December 2022;
• Preliminary Design: December 2022-April 2023;
• Final Design: April 2023-April 2024;
• Construction will begin in April 2024
The public can access an interactive comment map on the project website to inform the project team what you like and dislike about the current corridor, issues you’ve experienced, and ideas that you’d like the project team to consider when developing new design concepts.
