Crow Wing County Land Services Seeks Public Comment on proposed Cuyuna Connection and Cuyuna Hills Backcountry  Trails

Web posted December 26, 2017
The Crow Wing County Land Services Department is requesting public comment on a proposal to develop 11.64 miles of new trails in east-central Crow Wing County, within the City of Cuyuna and Rabbit Lake Township, as a designated single track mountain bike recreation trail system. The trail proposal would connect and link to over 30 miles of state and regionally significant existing mountain bike trails to the southwest, in the Cuyuna Country State Recreation Area. This would create a contiguous loop of 40.64 miles of designated singe track mountain bike trails in Crow Wing County.

“We encourage all citizens interested in this trail proposal to submit written comments no later than January 20th, at 5pm,” said Environmental Services Supervisor Ryan Simonson. “All comments received will be responded to in writing and presented to the County Board prior to their decision on the proposal,” he added.

The proposed trail designation application and trail suitability analysis can be accessed by clicking the “Crow Wing Listens” link on Crow Wing County’s website, www.crowwing.us. Copies of the proposed trail application and criteria evaluation are available from the Land Services Department located at 322 Laurel Street in Brainerd during the business hours of 8am to 5pm or by contacting the Department at (218) 824-1010.
