Crow Wing County Sheriff’s Office press releases

Web posted August 8, 2017
Burglary Suspect arrested during traffic stop
On 7-29-17 at approx. 5:00 pm, a Crow Wing County Deputy stopped a vehicle near Hwy 6 and CR #11 after he recognized the driver as 36 yr. old, Charles Alvin Weber, who had an active arrest warrant for him. While conducting the traffic stop, Deputies located items in the vehicle which they believed were stolen from recent burglaries in Crow Wing County. In the prior weeks, deputies responded to several residential burglaries in the Emily area. Through past investigations, deputies know that Charles Weber is a convicted burglar and had just been released from prison approx. 2 weeks prior to this traffic stop.

Deputies were able to positively ID some of the property in Weber’s vehicle as being stolen from recent burglaries in the Emily area. Deputies also located suspected methamphetamine on Weber. Weber was booked into the Crow Wing County Jail on charges of Possession of Stolen Property, 5th Degree Possession of Controlled Substance and Parole Violation.

“Mr. Weber has been terrorizing this community for years with his criminal activity. We arrested him for the same crimes in 2014 which he went to prison for.” Says Sheriff Dahl. “Now he’s been out of prison for 2 weeks and he’s out burglarizing and doing drugs already. Mr. Weber is right where he should be….. In my Jail”.

Charles Weber appeared in Crow Wing County Court and is currently being held on $40,000 bail.

Baxter man arrested for possession of child porn
Crow Wing County Investigators recently arrested 29 yr. old, Joshua Anthony Bourn of Baxter, MN for possession of child porn. On 7-3-17, Crow Wing County investigators received information from the International Crimes Against Children that they had information that an individual was downloading suspected child porn. On July 13th, Crow Wing County Investigators executed a search warrant at a residence located on the 6500 block of Clearwater Road in Baxter. As a result of the warrant, investigators seized several computers and electronic storage devices.

Investigators then examined the contents of the computers and storage devices and found approx. 1000 images of child pornography along with numerous videos of individuals performing sex acts on juveniles, some as young as 2 or 3 years old. The Crow Wing County Attorney’s Office charged Bourn with 19 counts of Possession of Child Pornography.

“This one is especially disturbing”, says Crow Wing County Sheriff Todd Dahl. “We have seasoned investigators working on this case and to see them shook to their core over these images is something that I don’t see very often.” Thankfully we’ve located this predator and he will have to face the consequences”.

Bourn appeared in Crow Wing County Court and is currently released on bail.
