Operation Round Up Donates $40,500 to Area Food Shelves
Web posted March 24, 2020
During March Food Shelf Awareness month, Crow Wing Power Community Trust Board annually donates Operation Round Up dollars to area food shelves. In March, a total of $40,500 was distributed to thirteen food shelves in the three-county service territory of Crow Wing Power.
Crosslake, Emily, Crosby, Pine River and Pequot Lakes are just a few of the thirteen food shelves the Cooperative’s charitable program gives donations to. Trustees feel strongly about maximizing donations and Food Shelf month is the best time to donate, so Shelves can get their match from Second Harvest (where they purchase their food).
Other food shelves receiving Operation Round Up donations included Morrison County Food Shelf in Little Falls, Salvation Army, Central Lakes College, Motley, Pillager Area Food Shelf, Longville, Hackensack and Pierz.
Crow Wing Power Community Trust Board Has Trustee Opening
The Crow Wing Power Community Trust Board is seeking volunteer applicants for a vacant Board seat in District 1A or 1B. The Board consists of nine Crow Wing Power members that meet quarterly to distribute donations generated by the Cooperative’s Operation Round Up Program.
Donations are made possible by Crow Wing Power members who allow their electric bills to be rounded up to the nearest whole dollar (an average of 50 cents a month), which when pooled together creates approximately $200,000 annually for charitable distributions.
Applicants wishing to apply should call Crow Wing Power at 218-829-2827.
