City Of Cuyuna Donates $3500 to Cuyuna Lakes Mountain Bike Crew

Web posted July 8, 2014
The City of Cuyuna is a proud supporter of the Cuyuna Lakes Mountain Bike Crew and outdoor sports in the Cuyuna Lakes Area. On May 24, Cuyuna presented a check for $3500 to the Cuyuna Lakes Mountain Bike Crew Making Cuyuna a Manganese-level partner in CLMTBC's efforts to support, promote and strengthen local communities through active living and cycling.

Cuyuna is home to an amazing new pump track designed by Lee McCormack (http://www.leelikesbikes.com/). One of his most extensive designs to date, McCormack's design puts Cuyuna on the cycling map of the midwest! A "pump track" is designed for riders to "pump" their bicycles by shifting body weight: skilled riders can push bikes to climb hills and turn on bermed corners with a fair amount of speed. Professional planning, design, and construction makes the track fun and safe.

Planned additions include picnic facilities, a pavilion and a full-featured campground to serve outdoor enthusiasts coming to the area in droves. While CLMTBC has no direct stake in the City of Cuyuna's new facilities, CLMTBC has volunteered to help facilitate maintenance of the track surface; Crew volunteers are often seen working on the track.

The Cuyuna Lakes Mountain Bike Crew welcomes the Cuyuna pump track and other forthcoming facilities in its goal of assisting the Cuyuna Lakes Area in becoming a worldclass recreation destination. CLMTBC recognizes a wealth of natural resources and beauty in the area and CLMTBC is proud to help responsibly leverage those resources into economic diversity, health and well-being.

The Cuyuna Lakes Mountain Bike Crew is 100% volunteer based with the purpose of "maintaining the Cuyuna Lakes Mountain Bike Trails, expanding our Cuyuna Lakes IMBA Bronze Ride Center, and strengthening our local communities through active living and cycling". The Crew has donated over 2,000 volunteer hours per year in service of their stated purpose in Cuyuna Lakes communities. The Crew holds a monthly business meeting on the first Thursday of every month, at 7:00 p.m. at the Hallett Community Center in Crosby, MN. All are welcome.
