| Community Attends Deer River Meridian Medical Clinic Grand OpeningDeer River Meridian Medical Clinic held a Grand Opening Celebration for 150 attendees in Grand Rapids, June 17th, 2008. The all-day event included a ribbon cutting with the Grand Rapids Area Chamber of Commerce, a morning gathering and an evening reception, with music, food and tours of the clinic. “This is a celebration not only for the Grand Rapids community, but also Deer River HealthCare Center. Our goal is to provide the same quality, compassionate health care that our patients receive in Deer River,” stated Chief Executive Officer Jeff Stampohar. Meridian Medical Clinic is a service of Deer River HealthCare Center, which employs nearly 250 staff and professionals in Itasca County. The Meridian Medical Clinic opened on December 31, 2007 in the Lakewood Heights Professional Building. The clinic has also partnered with the Blandin/UPM Paper Company of Grand Rapids to provide an on-site Family Practice clinic exclusively to Blandin’s employees, their families and retirees. “We really focused on comfort, accuracy and efficiency when designing our clinic space,” stated Clinic Nurse Manager, Nancy Buescher, RN. "Our qualified providers and staff are conveniently located at the Blandin Health Center and at our clinic in Lakewood." In addition to now offering Family Practice clinic services for everything from well-child checks to ongoing health management, Meridian Medical Clinic offers on-site laboratory and X-ray services. The clinic also offers complete access to comprehensive hospital, surgical and diagnostic services at Deer River HealthCare Center's medical campus in Deer River, which plans to unveil it's new surgery center and hospital wing later this summer. "This exciting year of expansion is our effort to continue the incredible forethought of Deer River visionaries that began 46-years ago," concluded Stampohar. "We want to thank our staff, community and our patients for their support. We give special thanks to those whose hard work and contributions in years past have made this possible."
