Emily City Council Highlights

(Editor’s note: The following highlights were taken from the unapproved summary of action taken at the March 12, 2013 regular monthly meeting of the Emily City Council.)

Bill Philstrom was granted a six month leave of absence from the First Response Unit.

The Council approved the purchase of eight utility vests in lime green in the amount of $339.92.

Cassandra Barrett was approved to join the First Response Unit pending background check, physical and drug testing.

An ad for a Police Chief will be placed.

Council asked Dan Barrett of Emily to be an interim council member during the absence of council member Bob Swanson.

The remodeled City Hall will be called Emily City Hall and Community Center. An open house is planned for the first weekend of May and the city is looking for donations to help offset all costs.

The Maintenance department will be sent for OSHA training through the Crow Wing County Highway Department.

The Emily Food Shelf will not need to pay for the sewer service at the old City Hall.

Council passed a resolution concerning a gambling license application for the Over Hills Gang ATV Club at Granny’s Bar & Grill on June 1, 2013 for a raffle.

Council approved a resolution of support for the materials funding to be reinstated for the KRLS affiliate libraries in Crosslake and Pequot Lakes.

The Celebrate Emily Day Committee was given permission to use the city clerk’s office in the old City Hall and that end of the building for Emily Day. The First Response Unit will also use that end of the old City Hall for Emily Day.

The Council approved changing the Clerk Shutter from manual to a motor operation at the cost of $3,240.
