Web posted June 10, 2014
The American Red Cross recently held a Blood Drive in Emily with a total of 111 pints of life saving blood collected.

This was the 64th bloodmobile held in Emily over the past 26 years, bringing a total of 5986 pints collected from the Emily site.

All donors are greatly appreciated for donating blood and helping to save lives. Donors who received gallon pins for their frequent donations are Michael Mitshulis, one gallon pin; Pat Gifford, 3 gallon pin; Richard Schiller, 4 gallon pin; Kathy Harvet, Marliss Kingsley and Fred Tauzell, 7 gallon pin and Richard Nelles, 14 gallon pin. Donors that received gallon pins need to donate 8 pints of blood in order to receive a pin. They then continue donating until they’ve earned their next gallon pin.

Door prize winners were Eileen Jensen, Jeannine Widing, Dean Horbach, Lisa Schweitzer, Melissa Johnson and Carol Carlton, who received a gift certificate from Robin Fish, massage therapist.

The Lakers Lions of Emily, Outing and Fifty Lakes are the sponsors of the Emily area bloodmobile.

The next scheduled blood drive in the Emily area will be held on Wednesday, September 10, 2014 from noon to 6:00 pm at the new Emily City Hall. Root beer floats will once again be served.

Donors or volunteers may call coordinator, Nancy Moritz R.N. at 218-763-3097, to sign up for the next upcoming blood drive.
