One hundred and twenty two donors came forward to help build up the depleted supply of available blood, comprised of seven first time donors which included Charlene and James Reed. New donors are always needed in order to help keep the blood banks restocked with a good supply of life saving blood. At the drive, a total of 110 pints of blood were collected. This was obtained through both single and double red cell blood donations, even though thirteen donors were deferred, due to not meeting the Red Cross’ strict criteria. Red Cross recognizes the Emily Blood Drive as a priority site, due to the continued tremendous response of donors turning out at their bloodmobile. More Red Cross staff will continue to be requested to be available at the Emily site to aid in the donor collection process. This additional recognition coupled with the implemented appointment program, will help allow the donors to get through the donating process in less time. Long time donors receiving gallon pins for their dedicated donations include Paulette Berndt, Debra Dahlke, Reed Gallina, Lydia Hawley, Douglas Larson, Randy Rohwer and Carl Walker who received their one gallon pins. Two Gallon pins were given to Steve Dahlke and John Leuthard, while Russell Philstrom and Victor Stanchfield received theie 3 gallon pins. Rodney Schloesser was awarded his 4 gallon pin and and Jack Blakeley his 6 gallon pin. Door prize drawings for Red Cross shirts were won by the following: Pat Oleson, Donna Puschinsky, Doug Johnson, Jeanne Bradley, Carol Carlton and Les McCoy. The Red Cross and the sponsoring Emily, Outing, Fifty Lakes Lakers Lions appreciate all of the donors and volunteers who have helped with the Emily Area Blood Drives over the past twenty-one years, collecting a grand total of 4371 pints of blood. Many hours have been contributed by all volunteers and donors; all with the desire to help save the life of those who are in need of the precious gift of blood. The next scheduled Bloodmobile for the Emily area will be held on Tuesday, January 19, 2010. Anyone who would like to be added to the donor list or would like to volunteer at the blood drive, is asked to call Red Cross bloodmobile coordinator, Nancy Moritz at 763-3097. | |||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
