Santa’s Circus to bring holiday entertainment to the Reif

Family Christmas show features 30 performers from around the globe

Web posted December 3, 2019
Santa and a wonderful cast of characters such Mrs. Claus, snowmen, penguins, angels, reindeer, toy soldiers, gingerbread men, and more will be spreading Christmas cheer at the Myles Reif Performing Arts Center on Saturday, December 7 at 7 p.m. when Santa’s Circus comes to Grand Rapids.

Santa’s Circus is a spectacular themed Christmas production with over 30 performers, breathtaking stunts, amazing skills, magic, illusions, and comedy. The show brings lasting memories of fun and laughter.

The show features over 30 performers including dancers, jugglers, tightrope walkers, contortionists, magicians, comedians, clowns, and trapeze artists.

The set is beautifully decorated to capture the essence of Christmas, and the audience is able to meet and greet their favorite holiday characters, and write their own letter to Santa with the help of Mrs. Claus.

The show is intended for children, families and the “inner child” in all of us.

Santa’s Circus is the story of an orphaned girl who has stopped believing in Christmas. She takes an extraordinary adventure to the North Pole, and learns that the spirit of Christmas never disappears for those who believe.

The show has been performed worldwide from Europe to Canada, the United States and Mexico. It is the brainchild of director Francisco Javier Santos.

Santos is part of the eighth generation of a family dedicated to live entertainment. Since a young age, he has been active in circus shows around the world, performing on five continents the ancient discipline of Icarian Games.

His work stands out for its unique style and technique. He has taken part in numerous prestigious International Festivals and has been the recipient of many awards, honors and nominations including the prestigious award by the city of Madrid as “The Best Performer of 2009”. Santos studied production and creation at the Commercial Theater Institute on Broadway. In 2002 he commenced working with Cirque de Soleil in the creation of the show, Varekai. He also starred in the TV series "Fire Within", which won the 2003 Emmy Award for "Outstanding Non-Fiction Program". Since that time, his performance has been witnessed by more than 9 million people around the world touring with Cirque du Soleil. Santos is continuously developing customized concepts for International Special Events.

Costumes and sets were designed by Lisbeth Salazar. She has more than 20 years of experience as a successful fashion designer, visual merchandiser, special event designer, brand builder, and consultant. Salazar has an eye for business. After establishing her own lifestyle stores, Via Satellite in Caracus Venezuela and Elite in Miami, Florida, she escalated her competitive abilities and built Lisbeth Salazar Consulting Agency. In her long and distinguished career, Salazar has been a lifestyle boutique owner, fashion guru, special events agency owner, creative director, art director, and brand consultant.

She is known for her instinct of pop cultural phenomena, an edgy and engaging sense of style and her proven gift for unleashing creativity.
