Haiti Earthquake Donation Options Abound

By Paul Boblett, Editor

Eagle View Elementary in Breezy Point, Crosslake Lutheran Church, and Immaculate Heart Church in Crosslake are three places the public can donate to relief operations following the disastrous earthquake in Haiti.

The Eagle View student council is requesting school families to donate as they are able this week, Jan. 25-29, to support the efforts of the American Red Cross.

The school is accepting only monetary donations. Checks should be made out to The American Red Cross, Haiti Relief.

The Crosslake Lutheran Church Youth Group will be packing hygiene kits Wednesday night to be shipped to survivors through Church World Services. Monetary donations will be accepted at the church office for the next two weeks.

Lutheran Church member Bob Burns recently returned from Haiti and will relate his experiences to the youth group at 7 pm. This event is open to the public.

Monetary donations are also being accepted at the Immaculate Heart Church office from 8-4 Monday through Friday.

The parish has always recognized Haiti through their outreach work, and the earthquake energized their efforts toward the Haitian people. Last week $6,000 was collected from parishioners specifically for Haiti. Donations from the church are steered through the Minnesota based Haiti Outreach organization.
