Manhattan Beach Council November Highlights

The regular monthly meeting was held on November 7th, 2023. The meeting was called to order by the mayor at 7 pm and the following officers were present: Mayor Paul Allen, Council members Barb Hanson, Steve Amans, Jean Amundson and Clerk-Treasurer, Marlene Yurek.

Council approved a request from  Clerk-Treasurer Marlene Yurek to add her attendance the Region 5 City Clerks meeting on December 13th at Sourcewell in Staples, under new business. Yurek was approved to attend later in the meeting.

Council approved the October 3, 2023 Minutes as presented, and The Clerk-Treasurer's report as presented, including Crow Wing Power.

Yurek told the council that a property owner inquired about the surveying of the property across the road from the public access on Big Trout Lake. The mayor stated the property was owned by the US Army Corps of Engineers and he knew nothing about the surveying issue.

• Council approved the hiring of and introduction of new City Attorney Jonathan Baker.

• Council approved Mayor Allen seeking bids for the water softener for both rental, and to purchase outright.

• The permit was issued for Frischmon property.
