Snowmobile Accident Results in Death of Marcell Man

A 36-year-old Marcell man died as a result of a snowmobile accident on December 28 according to Itasca County Sheriff Pat Medure. The man was identified as Anthony Nicholas Standt of rural Marcell.

The accident was reported to the Sheriff’s Office at approximately 10:47pm. Medure stated that alcohol was a contributing factor to the accident.

Medure said Standt was traveling southbound on the Marcell Snowmobile Trail when his sled left the trail and hit a tree. The accident occurred one half mile north of CR 45 on the trail. Standt was transported to the Bigfork Valley Medical Center where he died.

The Itasca Sheriff’s Office was assisted at the scene by the Bigfork Ambulance Service, Bigfork Fire Dept., the Minnesota Conservation Office and Minnesota State Patrol.
