Archer tags 32-Pointer at Annual Camp Ripley Hunt

Scott O’Konek, 29, from South Haven, MN participated in the Camp Ripley’s annual two-day archery hunt. He tagged a 32-point buck on the first day, October 15, 2009. The buck was estimated to be a five years old with a field-dress of 192 pounds and a preliminary antler score of 228.

The current archery antler score record is 225 dating back to 1989. If O’Konek’s buck’s measurement holds true, after the conclusive score is taken when the antlers have dried, then it will be the state’s largest archery killed nontypical/asymmetrical rack. - photo submitted by Nikki Shoutz, MN DNR
