The second issue of the Porch Light, Beyond, now available in area communities
Web posted August 25, 2020
The Porch Light is a literary publication from Screen Porch Productions. This second issue showcases 27 life-stories by community members from Emily, Outing, Fifty Lakes, Fairfield and Remer area.
When the first issue, A Sense of Place, summer 2018, was released, Beyond, was already in the works.
Porch Light founder Therese Kunz of Outing said, “Initially, we used themes to focus the direction of the stories. This worked well in the first issue. In a few short months, our world changed before our eyes and we understood we needed to let the stories go where the community wanted to take them.”
There is one theme we held fast to; A legacy Left Behind”, said Kunz, “We wanted to honor individuals who have gone before us and be reminded that goodness matters. This turns out to be the underlining theme of all the stories.
Kunz added, “We hope you treasure and honor these stories as much as we do. Share them, read them out loud, pass it on.
Look for the Porch Light, free to the public, at area businesses and local libraries. Special thanks to the generous partnership of Lakes Printing and Kevin Thesing.
This project was also made possible, in part, by the voters of Minnesota through a grant from the Five Wings Art Council, thanks to a legislative appropriation from the Arts and Cultural Heritage fund.
