After taking leads of 5-1 and 7-2, the Eagles could not hang on for the win. Coach Tim Vagle said, “We can’t afford to give the other team extra outs… Nash-Kee took advantage of our errors and walks to come back on us and beat us.” Northland was led by Dakota Kendall who went 2 for 2 and homered for the second straight game. Aaron Kemper and Devin Mulligan each had two hits, and Tyler Datzman doubled. Ryder Pepin was saddled with the loss giving up eight runs, only five of which were earned. Pepin struck out five Spartan batters. Greenway Holds on for Win Against Eagles The Greenway Raiders took an early 6-0 lead and held on for an 11-8 win, despite a furious rally by the home team Northland Eagles. Tyler Datzman and Aaron Kemper each had three hits for Northland in the loss. Kemper and Dakota Kendall each homered in the five run 4th inning which drew the Eagles within three runs at 10-7. Vagle stated, “We fell behind early, but the kids did a great job of fighting back. It would have been real easy for or guys to give up after being behind by [six], but we chipped away and made this a very competitive game throughout.” Kendall took the loss for Northland (0-5) giving up 12 hits. | |||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
