| Eagles Clip Ulen-Hitterdal in Triple OT, Fall to Ada-Borup in SemisThe Northland Eagles needed three overtimes but were able to edge Ulen-Hitterdal (4-4) by a score of 44-42 in the opening round of the Section 6 9-Man Football playoffs. The Eagles got two touchdowns apiece from three different players and their defense sacked Ulen-Hitterdal quarterback Cody Zimmerman a season high six times. Marshall Stay, Robert Fogle and Dakota Kendall had two rushing touchdowns each and Kevin Murphy had one for the Eagles. Kendall led Northland with 61 yards on 16 carries and Murphy completed 7 of 13 passes. Chris Schiedt led the defense with 17 tackles and had two receptions for 71 yards. Robby Raines and Fogle each had two sacks and Aaron Kemper and Schiedt each hadone. Kemper finished with 12 tackles and a fumble recovery. “That triple overtime was almost more then the coaching staff could handle,” said coach Shem Daugherty, "but the young men never quit and we were able to convert on the extra point when it was needed.” Daugherty said, “We came out flat on defense and it never allowed our offense to get back on the field after the kickoff. The boys did figure some things out and were able to prevent any touchdowns during the second quarter.” “We came out after halftime and put together some good drives and had the ball bounce our way for the first time this year. Our team never quit - they adjusted and kept giving 100 percent,” stated Daugherty. The Eagles (5-4) traveled to Ada-Borup (9-0) on Saturday and lost 52-8.
