| Eagles Down WrenshallThe Northland Eagles improved their record to 5-1 with a 36-6 thumping of the Wrenshall Wrens last Friday in Remer. Northland scored twice before the visiting Wrens were able to run a play from scrimmage. The Eagles drove the ball 85 yards in 10 plays capped with a 22-yard Dylan Bader to Keith Kunnari scoring pass to make the score 6-0. Northland then recovered an onside kick at the Wrenshall 38 yard line and scored a few plays later on a Dakota Kendall 5-yard run. Wrenshall finally got the ball but could not generate any offense and were forced to punt. The Eagles then went on a 10 play, 80-yard drive capped by Bader’s 16-yard run to make the score 20-0. Northland Coach Arlan Jensen said, “Our defense completely shut down their offense in the first half and those two long scoring drives ate up big chunks of the clock. With a ball control offense, unless you turn the ball over, it’s tough for the opposition to score. That's been our philosophy over the last four games.” On the Eagle’s first possession of the second half, they went 30 yards in 5 plays finished off by Tyler Datzman’s 7-yard run making the score 28-0. Cody Robbins then broke free for a 34 yard score following a Wrenshall fumble to make the final score 36-0. Wrenshall scored their only touchdown with a few minutes left. Jensen said, “The guys really showed up to play tonight. Wrenshall had kind of taken it to us last year and the guys weren't going to let that happen this time. Our hardnosed, physical play was the big factor in the game. With the running game being successful, our play-action passes have been very successful scoring four touchdowns. | |||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
