Eagles Off to 3-0 Start

By Paul Boblett, Editor

Eagles 60, Warriors 58 OT
Tori Howard’s only basket of the game with 1.6 seconds left lifted the Northland Lady Eagles to a 60-58 overtime win over rival Deer River in front of a packed gym last Tuesday night in Remer.

The Eagles had four players reach double figures led by Kayla Heisler with 17 points and 11 rebounds and Camille Manders with 16 points and 12 boards.

“That was a big shot by Tori for the win,” said coach Jenny Kovall. “We showed great composure for just our second game - they put a lot of pressure on us.”

“It was one of the most exciting games I have coached in a while,” said Northland coach Jenny Kovall. “Deer River is always a big win, and the kids played well.”

Krystal Rajdl had 13 points and seven boards and Kori Dunham added ten points for Northland.

Eagles 75, Vikings 30

Kayla Heisler’s 28 points and six steals led the Eagles to an easy 75-30 win over Littlefork-Big Falls on Thursday night.

Camille Manders scored 17 points and grabbed a team high nine rebounds and Krystal Rajdl added 13 points for the Eagles. Sierra Likens added five assists, six steals and four points.

“Even though they’re a junior and senior heavy team, they are struggling this year - it was an easy win for us,” said Kovall. “We had good shooting from the field.”
