Alexandria Ends Lightning Girls Playoff Run

The 4th seeded Northern Lakes Lightning pushed top seed Alexandria to overtime but saw their season come to an end.

Alia Kopisehke’s second goal of the game at the 1:45 mark of OT gave the Stars a 3-2 win on Tuesday, Feb. 14.

Megan Snyder and Kaylyn Eggena scored goals for the Lightning and goaltender Kat Jensen stopped 42 of 45 shots in the loss. Eggena also tallied an assist on Snyder’s second period power play goal.

Eggena’s goal with less then two minutes left in regulation sent the game into overtime.

The Lightning were outshot by a 45-15 margin.

Northern Lakes finished the season with an overall record of 9-12-2.

Alex Palm (11 goals, 4 assists) and Kaylyn Eggena (7 goals, 8 assists) led the team in scoring with 15 points each. Mandy Carlson (8-5- 13), Mariah Reed (4-7-11) and Megan Snyder (6-5-11) rounded out the top five.

Kat Jensen played the majority of games during the season and finished with a goals against average of 2.62. Madison Galligan started a few late in the season and finished with a GAA of 2.0.
