2018 Fall Grassroots Concerts

Web posted September 11, 2018
Grassroots Concerts are the nonprofit cultural offerings of a small, happy society of largely omnivorous but gentle folk dedicated to the preservation of live entertainment in vicarious times.

2018 Fall Concert Season

Sep 28 - DUSTY HEART - https://dustyheartmusic.com
Rich vocal harmonies merge with intimate layers of guitar, fiddle, and banjo to define the lush sound of Dusty Heart. Barbara Jean and Molly Dean, both stellar songwriters and musicians, combine their voices for a powerful sound that takes on a life of its own. "Dusty Heart combines great songs with lucid harmony and stunning musical talent." - Dave Simonett

Oct 12 - JAMES KEELAGHAN - http://keelaghan.com AND JEZ LOWE - http://jezlowe.com
Award-winning singer-songwriters James Keelaghan and Jez Low, from Canada and England, will join forces on the Grassroots stage. Don't miss this rare collaboration of great tunesmiths and old friends: Together they'll make magic. Keelaghan is "Canada's finest songwriter." - Dave Marsh. Lowe is "the best singer-songwriter to come out of the UK for a long time." - Richard Thompson

Oct 26 - GURF MORLIX - http://www.gurfmorlix.com
The songbook of guitarist-songwriter Gurf Morlix pithily relates the human condition with lyrics that don't waste a syllable and instrumentation without a spare note. After decades of providing exemplary instrumental and production work for the likes of Lucinda Williams, Warren Zevon, and Mary Gauthier, Morlix has gone solo. "Morlix's music mines the seam where roadhouse rock, Southern soul, and mountain music share a common source...." - Don McLeese, No Depression

Nov 09 - PUSHING CHAIN - https://www.pushingchain.com
Pushing Chain plays "folky-tonk" music featuring Boyd Blomberg on guitar and Adam Moe on fiddle. The duo's strong songwriting, tight vocal harmonies, and gonzo approach have been winning fans across the Midwest and beyond. "The duo's vibe is infectious enough to be investigated by the CDC; anyone who doesn't grin during the set must be immune to pleasure." - Suzanne Cadgene, Elmore Magazine

Nov 30 - BRIANNA LANE - http://www.briannalanemusic.com
Hailing from the song-rich soil of Minneapolis, Brianna Lane is a gifted singer-songwriter who plays both guitar and banjo in true Americana form. She crafts songs that are clear-eyed and pure with gritty, unflinching emotional honesty. Lane is "...a great writer, a soul singer of the first order, and an accomplished guitarist." - Jim Walsh, Star Tribune

The venue is hosted by the Live Well Night Club and Coffee Bar at the Journey Church in Nisswa. For information go to www.grassrootsconcerts.org or call 218-829-4092.
