2008 Nisswa Family Music Festival

By Brenda Brodmarkle

The Journey Church of Nisswa held the 2008 Nisswa Family Music Festival Saturday June 28. Although the turnout wasn't what was expected or hoped for, the audience seated in couches and chairs in the church were up close and personal with all the performers, a truly once in a lifetime opportunity for many. Bryan White, Country Music Artist put it best, "This is great, I feel like I’m in the backyard having a kumbaya."

The Journey church started in 2003 with the goal to reach those folks who just don't go to church. Their motto is "A church for those who don't like church." The first thing they ask you to do is Relax. At the  Journey, they hope you will discover friendly people, inspiring music, and a message relevant to your life. The many volunteers and musicians did just that on Saturday night. Performers included Bryan White along with Joe Fingers, Rick Barron, The Great Upset, and Ted Fyder.

The Music Fest was sponsored by local businesses including Carlson Hardware of Nisswa, Coca-Cola Bottling of Brainerd, D &H Docks, EL Builders, Endless Summer Tanning, Grand View Lodge, Lakewood Bank of Nisswa, Mickey’s Pizza & Subs of Brainerd and Nisswa, Rafferty’s Pizza of Nisswa, Schaefer’s Foods and StoneHouse Coffee & Roastery. The proceeds will benefit Brainerd Teen Challenge, Journey Haiti Mission, and Shamineau Ministries Rock Ridge.
