Web posted September 17, 2013
The Crooked Lake Volunteer firefighters, Outing Quick Response and Remer Area Ambulance Service participated in helicopter training last Tuesday in Outing.
North AirCare Deb Fischer gave a classroom presentation then the firefighters and EMS workers practiced “hot loads” with a volunteer victim while the helicopter is running.
The firefighters also worked on creating a safe landing zone for the pilot, which included lighting the landing are and and communicating with the pilot as the chopper approaches. Fischer said the training is critical, especially with multiple agencies working the same scenes much of the time.
