Local Hockey Player’s Team Takes First at Tournament in Blaine

Micah Miller (third row, far left) of Outing took part in in the Wal-Mart Hockey Cup 3 vs. 3 Tournament at the Schwan Super Rink in Blaine, MN on July 18-20. They played 6 games in the round robin Squirt B bracket tournament. This team of seven players, dubbed “The Huskies” for this event, won the Championship.

On July 25-27 the entire Sting team played in the Breezy Point AAA tournament. Miller scored the game-winning goal with 35 seconds remaining, sending the team to the Championship game. The Sting played a hard fought game in the final but came up just short in a 3-1 loss. They placed second and their tournament record was 3-1. Miller was awarded the engraved Sting puck for best team player of the tourney.

Other than Miller, all the members of these teams are from the Twin Cities Metro area. During the regular hockey season Micah plays for the Crosby-Ironton-Aitkin Grizzlies.
