Saturday, Aug. 5th ~ 11-4pm (rain or shine) Luscher’s Park, Outing
Love our Waters!, a new and innovative summer event featuring educational presentations on all aspects of our water resources, will be held Saturday, August 5th in Outing at Luscher’s Park.

This all-day family friendly event is a great opportunity for area residents and visitors of all ages, to learn more about the important role of area watersheds, management of aquatic invasive species, shoreline restoration and maintenance and much more.

There will be two key-note speakers, Heather Baird, from DNR Fisheries, and Tom Watson from Whitefish Area Property Owners Association (WAPOA), four breakout sessions, and smaller group presentations from experts in the field such as safe drinking water and local wildlife.

Also planned is a special dedication of the new MNDNR Roosevelt Lake Aquatic Management Area that surrounds the southern portion of Woods Bay.

The Water Education Tent will feature demonstrations and information on Aquatic Invasive Species watercraft decontamination stations; water quality maps of area lakes; identification of Zebra Mussels and Eurasian Milfoil; the history of area waterways; conservation easements; the proposed Line 3 Replacement pipeline information, and more. Also included are kayak and paddleboard demonstrations by Land O’ Lakes Marine.

Interwoven into the scheduled program will be a music showcase featuring local singer-songwriter, Faith Boblett and a performance by Lake Washburn Association Historians “The Lore of Lake Washburn: 100 Year History” all under the Performance Tent.

Also offered is a Kids Tent with fun water-education activities, take-home projects and stories of our waters to empower kids, the most important resource for a healthy future. There will also be great food and drink concessions available.

This event is sponsored by Screen Porch Productions and GoNorth Mn along with the following partners: Roosevelt and Lawrence Area Lakes Association (RALALA), Lake Washburn Association, (LWA) WAPOA, Pine River Watershed Alliance, Cass County Soil and Water Conservation District, Leach Lake Area Watershed Foundation.

Luscher’s Park is located less than a quarter mile east of downtown Outing on County Road 58.
