LWA Volunteers for the 48 Cleanup - photo by Glen Goodwin

Lake Washburn Association Members Cleanup County Highway 48

Web posted September 14, 2021
By Vicki Lipstreuer

Beautiful weather greeted the team of volunteers from the Lake Washburn Association at the fall cleanup of County Highway 48 on Labor Day weekend.

As part of the Minnesota Adopt a Highway program, the LWA collects trash in the ditches and along the shoulder of a 3.5 mile stretch of Lake Washburn Road, also known as County Highway 48 in May and September. Coordinator Mark Stange assigns teams to each section of the road and provides reflective vests and large trash bags to the volunteers.

There were enough volunteers this year that a portion of County Road 155 was also cleaned.
