The 31st annual Mid MN 150 self dog races are scheduled for Saturday February 9 starting in Outing. The annual race draws several mushers and their 6- and 8-dog teams for 30 mile race to Remer.
The teams will leave Outing beginning at noon on Saturday, and finish in Remer.
Race organizer Dan Levno of Brainerd said by phone last week that conditions are favorable, especially with the several inches of fresh snowfall. He reported that several entries had been confirmed and anticipates another good turnout.
Levno also respectfully requested that spectators leave their pet dogs at home, as it can create undo stress or tension in the dog teams before the race.
According to an update to the race Facebook page on Sunday, poor trail conditions mean that both 6- and 8-dog classes will run the same trail. The starting chute will be on Lawrence Lake and that the first half of the race will be different than in years past. The race will be approximately 30 miles.
The Musher’s meeting convenes at 10am at the Village Inn in Outing, every musher needs to check-in at 9am where the racers will receive their bibs and start times.
The 6-dog will start at 11:30 am, with 2 minute intervals, and 8-dog will start 30 minutes after the last 6 dog team, with 2 minute intervals.
