26th Annual Mid MN 150 Sled Dog Race

The 26th annual Mid-MN 150 Sled dog races were held Saturday, Feb. 7 in Outing and Remer. There were two classes of teams, 6-dog and 8-dog.
The winners were Saul Ellering, of Sauk Rapids, in the 8 Dog Pro Class and Teri Gapinski, of Hackensack, in the 6 Dog Recreational race.
The 8-dog teams left Remer in the morning and traveled to Outing, where they had a one-hour layover. The 6-dog teams started in Outing around noon and finished in Remer just before dark. The awards ceremony was held at the Remer Fire Hall Saturday night.
The Mid-Minnesota 150 is the second longest running sled dog race in Minnesota. The first race was held in 1988 starting in Deerwood. The course ran to Aitkin, Palisade, Remer, and Outing, then, back to Aitkin and finished in Deerwood. The following year McGregor was added to the trail route.
