Students Service Day Spring Clean-Up in Pequot Lakes
Web posted May 20, 2014
On Pequot Lakes High School service day the old Fire Tower had its grounds once again freed up of accumulated trash and litter.
Pictured left with smiles of a job well done are Nick Olson-Jr, Dillon Nichols-Jr, and Gordy Amundson-Sr. The threesome raked and hand picked up trash filling three bags. Even Paul Bunyan felt much better.
The tower is one of the sites on the Paul Bunyan SCENIC Byway and is currently seeking a list of volunteers to help complete another task later this spring. The newly cut meandering trail up to the tower is ready for its covering of wood chips and mulch. Tarps filled will have to be dragged along the trail and then secured in place. Your name and contact can be left with Krista Okerman <gnkokerman@ msn.com> or Rod Nelson - 612 803 7916. You will be contacted when work date has been set up. In the meantime the Pequot Fire Tower is open for hiking up to and climbing. An amazing view. Just help keep it litter free.
